It is officially summer here in Inuvik.

We’ve been into the 24-hour sun for a while now.

The idea is somewhat novel but in practice life is like anywhere. The only annoying thing is the sun is aimed right at the windows in my apartment and it gets incredibly hot at night. I had to buy a fan.

I’ve been driving down the Dempster Highway and sunning myself on good days. But it seems with each day, more bugs come out, to the point where I was swarmed by about 20+ mosquitos and black flies of some sort the other day. I have a massive red bite mark on my leg now, about the size of a golf ball.

However, I was visited by a fox, and that was nice, though I hid on top of my truck so it couldn’t rabies-bite me.

Life otherwise is going very well. I am overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude just to be alive.

Plenty of crappy stuff happens but what a great gift it is to be able to experience it at all.
